How do I upload my files ... ? Once you have created your Website and are ready to publish it on the My HottZone server you can upload your files by following the steps listed below. Note: Before uploading your home page, make sure its file name is index.HTML.  The uploaded page will appear at http://yoursitename.com/~username. Launch your FTP application.. Type in your hostname, press Enter. (<hostname> stands for the name you chose for your site when you registered for this service. Your site name is the host for your home page). Example: if your site is being hosted by My HottZone.com, then the  host name is : MyHottZone.com Type in your My HottZone user name when asked for login name, then press Enter. Type in your My HottZone password when asked for password, then  press Enter. For remote directory type: / This takes you to the directory location for your site home page , this is where you upload your file. (Note: path or local directory stands for the location of your home page file on your local disk, and index.HTML should be the actual name of the file containing your Home page. If you open the folder where your Website is stored, double click on the file named Index ....to see the path in the explorer bar.  Once all your files are finished transferring press disconnect on your FTP. If you don't the RaQ4 welcome page will display instead of your home page. What Is FTP? FTP is an acronym for "File Transfer Protocol." As its name implies,  FTP is used to transfer files from one computer to another on the Internet. FTP requires you to "log in" with a user id and password before you can retrieve any files. Although it is possible to transfer many different types of files inside of e-mail messages, FTP is still preferable in the following circumstances: To upload a website. to make files available for individuals to download to retrieve very large files (larger than 2MB) that are too large to send by email. What Kind of FTP can I use ? You can get WS-FTP free from several places. Please try one of the following: http://www.ipswitch.com http://www.tucows.com How to configure and use WS-FTP 1 - Create a "Session Profile". Do this by clicking on the "CONNECT" button found on the menu bar at the bottom-left of the "WS-FTP" program. 2 - Click on the "NEW" button, found under the "Profile Name" box in the figure above. 3 -In the "Profile Name" box, type in the name you wish to call the desired connection. This can be anything you want.  4 - Type in the FTP address of the FTP site you wish to connect to. This address goes into the "Host Name" address box. It will be something like ftp.myhottzone.com  5 - Make sure that the "Host Type" box is set to "automatic detect".  6 - Type your FTP username in the "USER ID" box, it will be something like a0006789.  7 - Type in your FTP password in the "Password" box.  8 - Optionally you can specify a "Remote Host" under the "Initial Directories" section at the bottom. Insert /html in the "Remote Host" box. 9 - To save the configuration, put a check in the "Save Password" and "Auto Save Config" box. Then click on the "SAVE" button just under the "Profile Name" box. This will save your configuration. 10 - To connect to the site you just created, click on the "OK" button . How to transfer files When you connect to a site, your computer will be on the left side, under section "Local System" and the remote computer will be on the right, under "Remote System". Local System will display the current path, files and drives on your computer. Remote System will display the current path, files and drives on the remote computer you connected to. Directly under the label "Local System" you will find a file listing. The top box will contain your current path (in the above figure-2, this would be "C:\My Web") And the bottom box will contain a listing of the files in the current directory. The Remote System will contain the same type boxes, only displaying the remote computer's information. How to upload files to your website: 1 - Put a checkmark in the box that says "auto". It is located near the bottom. 2 - Highlight the files you would like to transfer to your website by choosing them from the left box. 3 - Push the button that looks like an arrow pointing to the right which is located between the two columns. 4 - Another box will come up telling you the status of the transfer. 5 - When that finishes you will be done transferring the files, you will be able to see them in the right side now. How to download a file from your website: 1 - Put a checkmark in the box that says "auto". It is located near the bottom. 2 - Highlight the files from the right side you would like to download to your computer. 3 - Click on the button that points to the left. 4 - A box will appear and the files will begin transferring. Once they finish you should see them listed on the left side. My site won't upload ... ? Make sure you have an Internet connection. Your home page  should be named index. Check your settings to ensure the host name (name of your Website), user name and password are correct. How much space do I need ... ? Website vary in size, some sites are under 50MB or less, others are 500 MB or more. The amount of space you need depends on what's on your Website. 50 MB is enough for about 400 pages with images on every one. How much Bandwidth do I get ... ?
